I was raised by my grandmother in Roselle, New Jersey. I eventually attended Rutgers University in 2003, the state school, as one hailing from New Jersey tends to do.
After Rutgers, I spent two years working at the EdLab in New York City, before heading in 2010 to USC in Los Angeles to pursue my PhD in Philosophy.
For the better part of the 2000s, I was in a band. We released a few records, and toured Europe and Japan, along with North America a few times. I was also a director of photography and film editor with a local film production company that released two independent feature-length films.
In 2017, before moving to Germany, my long-time partner stopped in Las Vegas. The King officiated.
